PERSONAL STATEMENT

DamonDAMON SWINDELL

Unfortunately both Saga and Age Concern now consider me in their target audience, which is not a good feeling! Whilst pleased to have reached the half century, it did make me feel very old for a while! I'm now working on the basis that, whilst it used to be 40, life now begins at 50! So here we go!

Whilst my business is extremely important to me, my family and non work time are just as important. I am a firm believer in finding the right work – life balance whilst being very serious and committed to my work.

My motivation in life comes from my wife and children. My commitment to education and the local community is demonstrated through my roles as: Parent Governor at my son's school [currently as chair of the Performance & Standards Committee] and previously at my daughter's school and formerly as Chair of the Parish Council in the village where I live.

My leisure interests include going to the gym and showing those half my age that I am just as fit as they are (that’s a struggle!). My sport is Rugby and whilst too old to play nowadays, I do get great pleasure from watching my son play junior rugby. Of course, we are now looking forward to England winning the World Cup in New Zealand in a few months time!

I am also keen on a wide range of music and recently I have taken many trips down memory lane by re-visiting the loud guitar music I used to listen to back in the 70s - how did I ever live without my i-pod and i-tunes? The old black vinyl and cassettes can stay in the attic - [I was never into 8-track!]

In an age of technology and the Internet, I still believe that people make the difference. I consider myself very much a “people person” in a people business.
